Racine, McDuffie, White and possibly others from the private sector could emerge as candidates.
Linda Cropp? Really?
Yeah, Linda Cropp is a really weird name to throw out there.
Thing is, someone obviously is gonna have to run against her and will have to start laying the groundwork for that run soon, even three years out. Racine obviously is a name that's thrown out there all the time, but I feel like the opposition usually comes from the DC Council. Let's run down the list.
NO CHANCE
Nadeau (any debate with a seasoned candidate running against her would be a bloodbath; she's simply not very bright)
Grosso (Mendo more or less stripped him of his committee power because he's so bad at his job)
Trayon White (an embarrassment to the city)
Evans (been there, done that and failed miserably, and he might get indicted)
WON'T RUN
Todd (no chance he'll try to take down his chief benefactor)
Bonds (appears to one of Bowser's closer allies on the Council)
Mendo (don't think he has any desire to do anything more than what he's doing now)
Cheh (ditto)
Gray (if he had any real desire to run again he would've last year)
THAT LEAVES
Allen (meh)
Silverman (could really see her running, if only because of her massive ego, but it would be one of the nastiest campaigns in DC history)
McDuffie
Robert White
I would guess that one or more members of that last group tries to broaden their city-wide profiles starting very soon.
