I hear you, but it is a delicate balance between the technical and tactical aspects of the players' development. You are dead-on that smaller field and less players = more touches and more technical development. But at some point players have to learn the tactical aspects of the larger field and 11 v 11, and one of the best ways of learning is repetition. Hence, teams getting a jump start on 11 v 11 at an age when they feel the players should have the technical tools in their locker to play on the full field.

It seems like there is plenty of competition for them in their own age group and moving up to 06 puts them playing 11v11 instead of 9v9.
