I have no explanation for why this problem has cropped up for OP, and no advice on how to fix it, but I will say that I'm glad they did, because otherwise I'm not sure I would have known to fill this form out in my own D.C. return on TurboTax. And our family does, indeed, qualify for it! So thanks, and good luck, to OP.

The most recent explanation I've got was that DC hasn't provided certain forms yet, and to just keep trying every few days.

I would bet in this case it is using the TT info on child care costs + age to determine it, and TT has not added a question on whether it was actually a center or home-based care (since you enter both in the same section for federal credits). They'd need that set up to toggle eligibility.

This year I am 100% waiting on taxes because there are so many glitches that need to be figured out (for example, the VA state tax snafu).

Sure. This is for DC's new Early Learning Tax Credit, which is available to taxpayers based on the amount of eligible child care expenses paid by the taxpayer, up to $1,000, per eligible child. It does not apply where the child was not enrolled in a child development facility. My child was not enrolled in a child development facility, so this does not apply to us.

If it's a bug, wait a week or two and download the latest updates. It's part of the reason I wait until late March to do our taxes -- so Turbotax has all the bugs fixed by then (ok, and general procrastination).

Unfortunately that isn't working. Several folks at TT have been unable to resolve the issue. Very very annoying.

There’s an over ride function in Turbo Tax. I think that you go to the line on the form , right click on the mouse and enter your own data on the line.

I am trying to do our taxes and when I get to the state tax potion, Turbo Tax is forcing me to fill out an Early Learning tax credit that does not apply. The program won’t let us NOT put in information from this form that we do not have because this simply does not apply. The customer service person I spoke to said that they haven’t figured out how to fix this problem so....we can’t file either or federal or state taxes. What the hell is the point of using turbo tax when it doesn’t actually work? Has anyone run into this problem?
