Many women stay because of the kids and lifestyle. They often know about the cheating.


or because they love each other and the H is sorry, actually goes to counseling to figure out what is wrong with him and changes.

I agree with the previous poster. It no doubt occurs far more often than one would expect. That said, if you or your AP suddenly alter routine (without viable explanation, etc) it will not go unnoticed.

There's no way to be discrete if someone is on to you and adamant about catching you.

If it gets to that better to divorce then date. Being a liar and cheater is a horrible way to live.

This x 100. It can and for me it did (in the past, non-discovered). But, it's really, really hard to predict who is like-minded. Men and women rarely affair for the same reasons, and even if they did, in theory, agree on NSA, people's feelings can change.

All that being noted, my guess is that far more cheating goes undiscovered.

Older couple nearing retirement. Good lifestyle, no inclination of wanting a job, another man, not having to worry about health insurance. I think after weighing it she figured he wasn't worth all that. And down the road she could end up a happy widow.

It's pretty difficult to be discrete if your spouse is used to you generally going straight home after work. Even if you say you have a late night at work once a week, there are GPS trackers like Find Friends on the iPhone. It would obviously be really suspicious to suddenly cut your spouse off from that app.

I guess you could meet on a work trip or have your AP come to your house if you work from home one day (really douchey, but theoretically possible).

If you never make a mistake and no one ever finds out, and no one gets pregnant or an STD, and neither of you is ever troubled by the deception, and neither of you wants more from the relationship than the other, and you both want to end it at the same time...sure. But there are a lot of "ifs."
