I agree with this as a non-American. I wonder how it is that every other person I meet claims to possess at least "anxiety, bipolar disorder and depression".

My completely unqualified opinion is that you have a learning disability and you need an evaluation to figure which one and how to help yourself.

What you're describing could fit a number of things, so I'm going to give you for instances--

1. slow processing and poor working memory.

You appreciate humor but aren't quick enough to say funny, witty things.

You're boss tells you to do something but you don't write it down and forget it five minutes later.

Conversations move quickly- you are two topics behind in social settings. Other people find this annoying so they only talk amongst each other and leave you out.

2. Expressive/receptive language skills and metacognitive impairments combined with #1

Add on top that you don't read social cues due to a language impairment and metacognitive issues. You often talk about things that other people don't want to talk about- you don't notice this, so continue to drone on.

You can tell that people don't like you (because you *are* smart) but because #2 impairs your "in the moment" social awareness and self-monitoring, you can't figure out *why* people don't like you and feel powerless to change it. So, you become socially anxious.

3. You have trouble regulating your attention, following directions, persisting, and creating cohesive, on point work products because slow processing, working memory, metacognitive and social pragmatics impairments are associated with executive functioning disorders and/or ADD/ADHD, possibly ASD


Learning issues fall across the entire IQ spectrum. For all you know, your reasoning skills could be stratospheric with undiagnosed learning issues will cause significant performance problems. Get a full neuropsychology evaluation- and remember, a lot of smart people don't appreciate humor, but people who appreciate humor are smart.

Most likely an average IQ paired with a LD and/or mental illness (GAD). My bet is ADHD.

I know tons of low IQed individuals who are pretty successful. IQ doesn’t mean much.

I was the same in high school but college is where i applied myself. Got let go from a job because i didn't kiss the boss's asses. Lot of my coworkers were fake and kissups and against me if the boss was.

You could have an undiagnosed LD. That would cause anxiety.

Go to a psychologist and get tested. You may find a mild disability of some kind, but probably not. Perhaps social anxiety? Mild social issues, resembling Asperger's?

I've always made life difficult for myself and sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with me.

As I child I was very curious and serious. I was also painfully shy and was bullied at school. Because of my social issues I was checked out and did not apply myself in school and as such received very poor grades throughout my academic career.

Once I reached the workforce it was the same story. I consistently under-performed and keep getting fired. I have no friends outside of my husband and do not get along with anyone.

I also noticed that I am not witty or can crack jokes. I understand and appreciate wit but I can't do it on my own at all.

I have been to therapy for years and have only been diagnosed with severe anxiety and minor depression.

What else is wrong with me?
