His friends seem to play fortnite and roblox. We don’t have either. DS isn’t a big gamer.

My 7yo would play games all day everyday if I let him.

That was my takeaway as well!

It has a bar, guest bedroom and excercise room too. It doesn’t feel that big when you go down there.

We do tons of sleepovers. In fact, it's the rare weekend when I don't have a bunch of kids at my house. This is not the norm.

Also, I wouldn't check with other parents - nothing is going to work for everyone and once you check, you are going to have to pick which kids can't make it to the party. If there is a particular kid that your son wants there, he should know their sports schedule, so you can ask him.

I would keep it to under 5 kids for your sanity. I have an 11 year old and he regularly has sleepovers with a group of friends. He loves them and says they play video games, run around outside and still play with the nerf guns. These are loud, active kids and it hasn’t been an issue. Your basement sounds perfect. I also have a younger daughter and the boys are always easier. They always sleep at some point where the girls stay up the entire night and are wrecked the next day.

+ wow. Okay on the knowing the parents and house. But wow on an adult having to sleep with them in the basement!! That would make me upset if I found out the kids parents slept in the party zone. They're 10. Not 2. The parents having to sleep around the kids would be a problem at age 10.

OP, make sure not to invite any kids that have helicopter parents like this and you will be fine.

I prefer Fri to Sat better for two reasons

They are more likely to fall asleep earlier on Fri night from being tired waking up early for school. They also have another day to recover the sleep they missed before going back to school on Monday.

You may have some kids that have to leave early for sports, but that is better than dealing with church, religious school, etc... on Sunday.

Sleepover or not, throwing them all down that basement with no breakables will be a fun night

I am so over the birthday circuit and my kids love house parties. Think about all the times we hung out with neighbors and friends. Our kids never seem to get to do that and they need it terribly.

I wouldn't invite more than 10 kids though. Pizza, munchies, drinks and cupcakes. Done

Boy sleepovers are so much easier than girl sleepovers.

DS is turning 10. We are new to school. Between DS and his brother, we’ve exhausted birthday venues. DS doesn’t want zavazone or sky zone or science or sports party. He wants a fishing party but his mid March birthday weather is unpredictable. Some years there is snow. Other years it is 75 degrees.

His new friends seem kind of loud and a bit crazy. My DS is quiet and mild mannered.

Just typing this is making me not host a sleepover. Don’t think this crowd will be content watching a movie and eating popcorn. We do have a giant basement (6000sf) with a giant tv, media room, game room with 2.5 bathrooms so should be good space to host a sleepover.

BTDT parents, what should I expect if I host this sleepover party?

How many boys is an optimal number of boys to invite?

Fri-sat am? Or sat-sun am better?
