OP, because the PSAT 8/9 is low stakes testing for most students (not those of us in PGCPS) there aren't a lot of practice materials for this level. It is not a good idea to use PSAT test prep materials because you will likely just stress your child out. There are a few books sold on Amazon. This is one we used:

https://www.amazon.com/PSAT-Practice-Tests-students-grades/dp/1974645010/ref=asc_df_1974645010/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=245369089410&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5831434699981352347&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007754&hvtargid=pla-574172334664&psc=1

A key thing is that the PSAT 8/9 does include some algebra even though many students may not have taken it yet. So having studied some algebra helps a lot.

Oh, this is being used as an entrance exam test in PGCPS for the Science and Tech Program, so for those students, I'd understand why there would be an interest in prepping.

Why? This test means absolutely nothing. It's just so they can see the format and determine which area is their strongest. Don't freaking be this parent. Of all the pointless things to focus on...

This isn't the PSAT11 taken in 11th. It's the pre-pre-SAT for 8th grade. The "prep" for the PSAT and SAT is supposed to be your general education. Sure, do some practice tests right beforehand, but starting tutoring for standardized testing in 7th grade is just ridiculous.

It's a practice test of a practice test of a practice test, actually.

The College Board publishes a booklet - https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-8-9-student-guide.pdf

Your child does not need to look at the booklet or hire a tutor or do anything.
