and MD doesnt have tolls?

John F. Kennedy Memorial Hwy (I-95): E-ZPass Tag toll $6.00 cash toll $8.00
Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge: E-ZPass Tag toll $6.00 cash toll $8.00
Chesapeake Bay Bridge: E-ZPass Tag toll $2.50 cash toll $4.00
Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge: E-ZPass Tag toll $4.50 cash toll $6.00
William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge: E-ZPass Tag toll $4.00 cash toll $6.00
Francis Scott Key Bridge: E-ZPass Tag toll $3.00 cash toll $4.00
Baltimore Harbor Tunnel: E-ZPass Tag toll $3.00 cash toll $4.00
Fort McHenry Tunnel: E-ZPass Tag toll $3.00 cash toll $4.00

None of those are in the DC suburbs. And all involve giant, expensive pieces of infrastructure - bridges and tunnels - that traditionally warrant tolls.

Make sure you keep and save the receipt. This happened to me. I paid. A couple months later got a letter from a lawyer demanding $106. Lol no.

We are from a different state and we never needed an EZpass, so...we got stuck on 66. Had to pull over and figure how to buy a transponder without having to go to DMV -luckily we were able to buy one from a Giant store. Because we have a child who plays ice hockey, we tested drive to the ice rink at Reston...turned out it cost $9.5 for a round trip from McLean to Reston!!! So families will have to pay over $170 toll each month for a kid to play the sport? I can't believe this...

+ 1. THIS. so long as your license plate is registered to your transponder it will automatically be billed to your account as sometimes the transponder does fail to capture the toll.

Yeah, I found this on an old thread, I think, when I had a rental car with a transponder that didn't work. Avoided the penalty plus the fees the rental car company would have imposed.

I did this by mistake also. I was driving my son’s car and forgot he doesn’t have a transponder. All I received was a bill to pay the toll. If I didn’t pay it on time I would have been charged a fine. This was MD, though. I’m not sure how VA works.

Google maps steered me onto 66 this morning and I didn’t have my transponder. What kind of bill can I expect?
