Cop out reply... "sorry man, the downtown in the market these past several months has set us back significantly in our savings - so I can't withdraw any money for quite some time"

Take his call. Before he can ask, tell him you have cash flow issues and need 25k for “just a few months.”

I’ll call you next week. Bye” and hang up.

Tl; dr: tell him no repeatedly

Stop dodging his calls and just tell him the truth: you cannot invest in hiso company at this time. Repeat as needed (every time he asks). No more explanations, don't make him feel bad about the past, just say no.

No, and I’d tell him why just as you told us.

I'll go out on a limb and recommend that you say no.

I've been dodging calls from my brother..I know he is calling for money to invest in his "company" that he's trying to start. I've done so many favors for him over the years to help him with absolutely no gratitude. He also hasn't held down a job for more than a few weeks. I can't dodge him forever. Any advice on what to say?
