Hello, He won because people preferred him over HRC. And he was the ONLY Republican who had what it takes to out-do her. She would have slaughtered any of the others. And yes, he knows how to attract constant media attention. Doesn't he?

OP, I am going to assume you aren’t involved in the Democratic Party in NoVa, nor know any elected officials. Because there are many people in state and local politics who do what they do because they want to serve their communities and aren’t just trying to work their way up the food chain.

Re: the specific points you made above:

1- No one has seen LuAnn Bennett in 2 years since she lost to Comstock. If she was coming back, she would have done so.

2- Sharon Bulova is retiring.

3- Gerry Connolly will retire within the next 8- 10 years...think it is coincidence that his wunderkind is running for the BoS now?

4- Ryan McElveen will lose the primary and we will never hear from him again.

5- Jennifer Wexton hasnt even been in Congress for a month.

6- Foust would be running for Chair if he wanted to try and run for anything else again. But he has probably another term in him before he retires.

7- Kincaid loves being Sheriff. She has no desire to do anything else.

You should be more concerned w the “logjam” in Richmond. Some people really should have retired a while ago.

Because of the one-term limit for governor issue, and our proximity to DC, there’s a carousel effect near the top - governor for four years, then you run for senate, or maybe run the DNC or take another position with the democratic party for a few years. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one of those guys run for Governor in a few years, or Senator if Kaine or Warner decide not to run again. I don’t think there’s too much of a long term log-jam, things will look a lot different after 2020.

OP, perhaps the log jam is getting cleared a bit. There may soon be a vacancy for Lt. Governor.

The OP is kinda correct, there is in fact a logjam locally for Democrats, at least in Fairfax County.

Idk if that was a typo but Stacy Kincaid is a woman.

Wexton was just elected for the first time two months ago. That hardly looks like a logjam. Plus, there is every chance that some non-norther Va districts will flip blue providing Dem mobility.
