Wallpaper is removable as long as you don't put it over multiple layers and paint over it. I'd do wallpapers but not wall paneling as that's trendy and ruins the walls (or no walls under it).

I love pretty paint colors - soft sunny yellow, various shades of blue, sea green, lavender.

I like wicker furniture on sun porches. And bird baths, bird houses, yard flags and other yard decor.

Yes, I like beautiful wood paneling tastefully done. Lovely British wallpaper, hand-painted Dutch tiles. I've got all of these in my house.

How did you use the Dutch tiles? I’m thinking of redoing them kitchen backsplash with some.

Living room fireplace tiling. They're exquisite, the brush-stroke is so fine and the little boats and windmills and animals so cute! I have a French cream and copper-toned kitchen and the Dutch blue wasn't the right color for it, so my kitchen tiles are plain cream. But if your colors and theme match, they would look great in a kitchen!

I do love those vintage 50s tile bathrooms, but only in 50s vintage houses.

I love bold wallpaper. Oriental rugs. Bright print carpets. Light wood cabinets with the spade shaped black iron handles. Entire walls of books.

As I live in an apartment, rugs and mismatched Ikea bookcases are all I've got, but I do enjoy browsing Pinterest.

I love fancy, expensive french wallpaper. Particularly Chinoiserie.

Can you link to pictures of what you like? Perhaps some of the looks you describe could be done in an updated way, perhaps, that you would like but wouldn't be an expensive or risky commitment.

LOL. I don’t like any of those things.

I do like my cherry cabinets and corian countertop in white. And antiques, which are out of style.

Huh. That's quite a collection of dated looks!

If you picture being in your house a while, I see no reason you shouldn't have what you like. You could also go for slightly more modern versions -- like subway style blue or green tiles rather than square, modern floral wallpaper on an accent wall (or removable wallpaper), board and batten in the dining rooms on instead of paneling.

I think you would get the effect you're going for without seeming like you're stuck in the '80s.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what do in our house because the things that I do like would devalue the house. I really love the things below.

High end wood paneling in living, family or dining rooms, low end wood paneling in basements and low end pine bead board in kids rooms.

Cobalt blue or sage green ceramic square tile kitchen or bathroom countertops with wood trim. No kitchen island.

Turquoise or blue (50s) stile tub, toilet, sink, tiled shower.

1980s expensive, large floral wall paper with deep or bold background color.
