Lee and Stokes are very hard to get into for PK3, and ITS is not easy either. Burroughs is the opposite direction of many people's commutes. Shining Stars and Bethune have some issues.

But OP didn't say they were looking for a safety. They literally said there isn't much to choose from, which couldn't be further from the truth. And that they weren't delving into philosophies - when all these decent schools listed have VERY different philosophies of education!

OP is lazy, and a little bit out of touch IMO.

I don't know how many hours a day they do this type of lesson vs. nap, lunch, outdoor play, or other less structured things, but it might be useful.

Hmm. Not the approach I'd go with, but your mileage may vary if you're just looking for free childcare.

From my experience, DC Prep is very worksheet-based, academic oriented, kids sitting in desks. Even in early childhood. Their goals are to "prep" kids for college who may be the first in their families to ever attend. Does that fit your mindset?

We looked into it but went with Langley for the whole-child approach. It is pretty easy to get into Langley off the waitlist.

You are in the charter school Oasis over there!

For PK3, you will probably get in - they usually clear their waitlist or close to it - which is useful to know from a ranking the list perspective.

We looked at it. It appears to be well-managed, but I preferred a less academic approach for our preschooler. Also they were in trouble with the charter board for their treatment of students with disabilities.

We live about 0.5 miles away from DC Prep Edgewood and are trying to figure out where to rank this on our preferences. Any current parents out there who can weigh in on whether you're happy with your experiences here?
