We have had five Dell laptops over the years (two for our home, three for our kids), and have been very happy with each of them. We did the 'build your own' option, as the kids wanted to be able to do gaming and schoolwork on theirs, but I'm sure some of the 'off the shelf' options would suffice for most users. We always ordered directly from Dell.

I also made a choice in favor of an inexpensive laptop and didn't regret. I don't use complex graphics applications, so its performance suits me. Just what I had to improve is my Wi-Fi router. Using simple instructions, I updated the settings of the web interface - www.router-reset.com/router-login-web-inter//Netgear After this procedure, the speed of Internet surfing has noticeably increased. Now I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

get a cheap lenovo with a solid state HDD...

it will have the latest and "geatest" windows and you can get Ms office with no issues

my current lenovo is going on 8 year old. no problems. perfect for home use.

I do have an ipad that i use for gener surfing and email. but find that using the laptop is easier for hen running programs like word, or excell or even doing my taxes, ect.

Thanks! Do you have the model number? They have a ton of laptops there.

I have had a HP Chromebook for 3 years- I think it was $300.00. It is super fast and easy to use. I love it. I don't have any issues converting the documents to be Office compatible.

Looking for a laptop under $600. Brands we’ve liked are HP and Dell, but open to others. Should be 14” with a good processor and decent storage. Won’t be used heavily for gaming or anything like that - mostly just email, web surfing, and MS Office. A 2-in-1 is preferable but not a deal breaker. Any recommendations? Please post a link if you can. Thanks people of DCUM!
