We just moved so I don't have an OB here yet, but TBH I have never found OBs to be particularly good sources of information on fertility anyway.

Why the eyeroll? An RE is the person to see for fertility issues.

Some women don’t have any issues even at 40. Did you conceive number one naturally? If so, wouldn’t it be best to go that route again? If no success in six months opt the other route.

I'd be inclined to PGS just because you will probably have a decent number of embryos to pick from. From 21 eggs frozen at 35, I had 4 Day 5/6 embryos of which 2 were PGS normal. It was 4-5k to PGS test them and would have been 4-5k per transfer. So testing saved me 4-5k and two bad transfers.

OP here. This is super useful. Were you able to get pregnant with one of those PGS embryos?

Also to your question re how many to transfer, here are the SART guidelines. They will presume you have a "favorable" outcome at the first transfer and put back at most 2. After a few transfers fail they will let you put back at most 3 blasts.

https://www.sart.org/globalassets/asrm/asrm-content/news-and-publications/practice-guidelines/for-non-members/guidance_on_the_limits_to_the_number_of_embryos_to_transfer-norpirnt.pdf

I replied on a previous chain about recurring FETs without getting pregnant. I have 3 blasts left and rather than having to spend the extra money/time on two FETs my doctor has agreed to put all 3 back before I move on to DE.

I would do the opposite and work with the frozen egg first. Frozen eggs are more fragile than frozen embryos. I would defrost those eggs, fertilize the and see how many get to blast. If you end up with 3 blast or 15 blast you have v. different paths.

Won’t it take some time to research OB’s do whatever testing they want talk to them. Couldn’t you start by trying while you do that?

I would talk to an RE first, OP. They can run your numbers and advise you of your best options. In the meantime continue to try on your own.

I froze eggs at 35 (20 mature eggs) and have a three month old DC. DH and I would like to try and get pregnant in the next year since I'm not getting any younger, but I'm on the fence about TTCing naturally versus just using the frozen eggs. I know at my age the likelihood of miscarriages is fairly high (assuming I can get pregnant at all). This would be our last child if we are able to get pregnant, so I'm inclined to use the frozen eggs. Relatedly, assuming I have some blasts to test, would you PGS the embryos or just transfer? If no PGS, how many should I transfer? Thanks in advance.
