DD was accepted with merit aid that brings the cost down close to in-state (UMD). We have not visited but are planning to attend a Make it Miami day in March.
I have heard a lot of good things from friend/co-workers who have kids attend - looking forward to seeing it first hand.

Our high stats DD applied to Miami as her safety school. No additional essays required. Was offered $24k/year merit scholarship.

Are you from Cinci or have deep connections there? If not good luck with that internship. It’s a very insular town.
Miami is white, UMC, and preppy so most of DCUM should fit right in and love it.

Is it still considered preppy?
It has a retention rate over 90% so those who go tend to stay.
They have tuition kick so you pay the same amount for all 4 years.

You're also not far from Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, and Cleveland for summer work.

I am from Ohio and lots of my friends went there as did one of my siblings. They are all bright people who went on to have well paying jobs. It is very preppy; used to be referred to as J Crew U. Cute campus.

It is great! Small college town so Miami does an excellent job of providing activities and events for kids. Business school is the rock star with amazing results.
Greek life is present but nothing different than other state schools.
The only negative is getting there... although flights out of Cin and Dayton are cheap.
