I spend a lot of time in Southern California, and it's pretty popular out there. The expensive types look amazing, and kids and dogs love it.

I think I read that you can get a tax deduction for using it - since you don't have to water anymore. Worth a look.

Just what we need more plastic in our landfills. This stuff can not be recycled. Also off gases for years and needs to be disinfected.

You know, for a long time I could not decide to buy artificial grass and chose very carefully. Having studied all the pros and cons and following the advice from the blog https://bestyardproducts.com/best-artificial-grass/ I still bought artificial grass and quite happy. It is not so expensive and you can make a replacement in a couple of years. In my opinion, artificial grass is a great solution for lazy people.

We have friends and a neighbor who put in realistic artificial turf. They love it. They can use every bit of their yards all year long. Their dogs can play out there in the rain without coming in with muddy paws. They have neighborhood kids come over on a regular basis to play soccer, etc., and the turf still looks good as new.

We are seriously considering it, at least for a shady half of our back yard.

Turf grass can ge grown almost anywhere. Minor alterations to environment (limbing up trees and soil amendments) plus the right choice in cultivar will do wonders. Care to share more about your conditions?

Even now, it still looks plastic to me.

Turf is grass. You’re talking about artificial turf, not turf.

It does not look and feel real. It is horrid.

There’s a gorgeous house at 15th and s street that has this. We now live in Florida and there’s a cute Spanish cottage near us with turf. I say go for it.

Has anyone replaced their grass with a turf yard? I'm not talking about the horrid astroturf of years past but some of the new turf really does look and feel real. We live in the city and have a perfectly rectangular, flat yard but have trouble with grass being patchy due to shade. We also don't have anywhere to store a lanwmower so pay someone to come and mow it. Turf seems like it would pay for itself fairly quicky and potentially look better? Will I regret this?
