Your friend was very rude. I'm not sure why other posters are acting like this is okay. I'm sure they would think differently if this was an overweight person talking about someone commenting on their weight.

It is always rude and bad manners to comment negatively on someone's appearance.

I would have laughed with him and probably said something about HIS size.

You really can't go through life being so sensitive, OP. Be happy you're alive and relatively healthy and let the rest go.

He was a little rude but, I'd shake it off.

It was insensitive, for sure, but just let it go.

What’s the big deal? Why is this embarrassing? It’s not an insult, in any way. You need some thicker skin.

I'm 5'1" and shocked that you've made it to 34 without having been told what a tiny person you are. I was especially small as a kid, called shrimp by some mean boys. Fortunately now it's just "wow, I never realized how short/small you are." Which is not a compliment or insult.

Since it's something you can't fight, just learn to laugh about it and have something ready to reply to people who feel the need to talk to you about it

I'm 4'11" and weigh 108. People comment on my height all the time and I just don't get why it is an insult or hurtful or whatever. It is a statement of fact like I am a brunette or have hazel eyes. In other words, get over it OP.

I'm pp, and I'm quite tall, I've been called "asparagus" so many times in my life, so I get what you feel ! I chose to laugh about it

Well, that was terrible from him to embarass you like this.
I would have been upset as well.

I guess you have to be ready for this kind of things being told to you and be ready to reply something when it happens.
Something with a little humor will be better
And then move on. You can't change your height but you can show an insensitive person they're being snarky.

I am kind of on the petite side, 5'2 and 110 pounds.
My friend has a 8 year old.
The other day his son stood by me and in from of everyone (His sisters were also there) he started laughing loudly and said "Wow, I just never realised how short you are. Larlo is almost as big as you." He then looked me up and down and continued to talk about it saying how we look the same weight too. Should I say something? It really embarrassed me. I am 34 and he spoke to me like I was a kid.
