It’s a very bad idea because daughter might want to do networking after conference hours .

If your daughter is there for a business conference your wife is very out of line. Even if this was a leisure trip, your wife should be running her plans past your adult daughter before just showing up on her trip.

She's not in HS anymore. Time for mom to back off. And I say that as a mom.

Maybe your DW is thinking she could turn this into a mother-daughter trip.

Um becuase the mother has no BOUNDARIES. You think it is OK to invite yourself to someone's business trip without asking? You have serious problems yourself.

I already did, which produced a “that’s news to me” reaction and a “why any I do anything by myself.”

NP. Because adults do not invite themselves along in trips, including leisure vacations and professional conferences. His wife’s assumption that his daughter will be available to “hang out” at night is ridiculous. Most people I know use evening conference time to network and see old friends/colleagues.

Sounds like your wife is bored and/or lonely. Your daughter is an adult and she can handle saying no to her mother if that's what she wants to do.
