Yes they are the same, and they are 2 digits smaller than women's shoes (if you have a girl).
So I wear a women's 8 or a youth 6.

For boys who are in smaller men's sizes and having trouble finding enough options for a practicality or a good fit (my ds has X wide feet so it was horrible), try women's size shoes. I got this tip from a friend who had to do the same thing for her tween ds. We were able to get ds some ecco sandals in brown and some tennis shoes in women's size 9. That is still just a men's size 7.

Now luckily he is 13 and in size 10.5 so there are more choices and we can finally find shoes that fit and are wide enough. We have to go to a specialty running store but it is worth it to have the XW shoes and be able to try them on. And for once he has a choice so of 3-4 pairs that fit, instead of nothing fitting or only one pair fitting.

There are a few brands that do boys size 7s. I think Merrills does, but Keens does not. Look for those before you jump into the mens shoes. My son also didn't like the mens shoes as they tend to be heavier than the boys version. Was a transition for him (and took some searching to find ones he would wear after wearing the same pair of keens in the next size for years and years), in addition to sticker shock for me!

My 11 yo is in size 8.5 men’s! And my 9 yo daughter is in 8.5 women’s. We pretty much shop the clearance section at Nordstrom Rack.

That's me. DS is 10 y/o and in size 8 men. It's $$$ and also hard to find child appropriate footwear. For example, he still loves playing in the snow and very few brands actually make snow boots tall enough for real playing.

I know! I have told my son’s feet to stop growing. We’re at 6 now.

From 6.5 - > 7 is the official jump from boys to men's shoes. You'll notice the price jump is incredibly steep.

It drove me nuts that the IDENTICAL adidas soccer clear in a size 6.5 vs 7 is a $50-60 price differential. My older son had big feet fast. They have doubled and tripled in size while vertical growth has been much slower. He’s recently turned 13 with a men’s size 10-10.5, but only around 5 feet tall.

It was shocking to me when my elementary aged son out grew his size 6.5 and I could BARELY find any youth sized 7 shoes for him. How are 11 year olds and men the same? And agree with the sticker shock - sheesh.

Yes, it is! My DS wears a 7 right now - mostly boys sizes stop at 6.5, but I have found a few that go up to 7, and it is the same as a men's size 7.

I don't thin so. A men's 7 is a woman's 8.5
