Rosedale is a different neighborhood altogether from Capitol Hill. I agree with the PP that TR Young is one that is appealing and close for OP.

Lee Montessori is just 1/2 mile north of ITS, if that, along a fairly quiet street. If you think ITS is acceptable, so is Lee.

We also know some families who moved to Brookland after getting in to a school here. Practice it on a rainy day after the govt shutdown is over.

You are right, its is a little past Brookland but the same route and I really don't find it bad. Like a PP said, it also matters where you are on the hill. It takes us about 15 minutes, sometimes less in the morning, a little more in the afternoon.

I do the reverse for summer camps and it's not too bad but like most things it's all about timing... and exactly where in Brookland and where in Capitol Hill you're talking about. You'll probably use Brentwood Parkway or Bladensburg Road more than you ever have before.

"Capitol Hill" to some means 1 block from RFK...

I'm trying to finalize our lottery list. There are a few schools and charters in Brookland that we are very interested in for next year PreK-3. I realize PreK-3 is a total crapshoot, but I'm wondering if some folks could comment on the commute from the Hill to Brookland? I have a flexible work schedule so drop off times are not an issue, I'm just wondering if by playing the long game (trying to get a good PreK-5 school) is a bad idea at this time if the commute is just too much for DC.
