PICSI is an acronym for Physiological Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection. It's basically ICSI with an additional selection step. Like ICSI, a sperm is picked and then injected into the egg. However, instead of just picking a sperm by morphology or how it is swimming, they apply an additional test to determine how well it binds to hyaluronan, which may indicate that the sperm does not have chromosomal abnormalities. Hyaluronan is present in the egg's membrane. Once the sperm is selected based on PICSI, the sperm is injected using ICSI.

Please help me understand the difference between PICSI vs ICSI. MF is fine except for high DNA fragmentation. Dr recommended TESE and we are wondering to do PICSI versus ICSI (as our friends suggested it) but want to understand the difference first.
