I’m the poster who graduated in ‘01 and moved away in ‘09 and I agree. I would have a gorgeous Tudor mansion in Shaker Heights for the cost of my brick box in Arlington. It’s affordable and accessible - easy to get non-stop flights most places. It has world class museums, orchestra, an amazing live music scene, great restaurants, lakefront, a great system of parks for running and biking, all the national stores you have in DC - basiclally all the comforts and convenience of a large city but without the traffic and high cost of living.
It’s pretty gray and drab in the winter, but not nearly as cold as Chicago.
