Subject: Any other teachers NOT gifting their students?
Please don't give gifts, especially candy. DD gets so much f'ing candy at school.
Teachers don't give gifts to students.

Please don’t. We trash most of it.

I am not getting gifts but I am a middle school teacher with about 155 students. When I used to teach at a school with smaller classes, my team of five teachers would sometimes put together holiday bags with some little things but we only had about 40 or 50 students total so we combined resources within the five of us.

My DC's teachers have never done this. It has never occurred to me to expect it. I think the only thing my DC will be getting for the holidays from her teachers is homework.
And that's perfectly fine!

I would never expect my DS's teacher to get a gift for him. Teachers already do enough!!

You GIVE gifts. Please don’t be my child’s teacher. He needs a teacher who uses correct grammar.

OP here. Yes, elementary. We aren’t allowed to give them edibles of any kind.

Do you teach ES?
I used to give a happy holidays card and candy cane for MS. However, I know that not all students celebrate holidays at this time of the year. We’re playing a subject-related game the last two days. There’s candy and small toys for the winning teams.

We play bingo on the last day of school using small candy so that is their gift.

Just haven’t had time to even think about putting something like this together, and I give them a little something on the last day of school. But I have nothing for the holidays. Our teachers never gave us gifts! They did their jobs and taught us. When did this expectation start and is anyone else not doing it?
