OP, you might have schizophrenia. I knew a schizophrenic man who hallucinated that Selena Gomez songs were about him.

It doesn't make sense to say "9th grade is when kids are x age." For every grade, it make more sense to say, "This is the grade when kids turn from x age to y age at some point during the school year or the summer before or after the school year."

The typical K cut off is September 1 or 30 (depending on where you live), so every kid with a birthday from October 1-Dec 30, will turn 15 in the first semester of freshman year. The rest will start to turn 15 in January of Freshman year, and so on.

Freshman year is when correct-age-for-grade kids turn from 14 to 15, except for the small number of kids who have birthdays between the first day of school and the cut off, and the redshirts (who are already 15), and the few kids who start a year early.

All of her songs are about you. Isn't it obvious?

Lol! Probably not. But verified Taylor Swift did like a cover by one of my DD’s friends and it sparked interactions that have lasted three years so far.

I taught freshmen in MCPS for two years and middle schoolers for over a decade. Turning 13 in 7th grade is common (hence all the b’nai mitzvah). Those students turn 24 in 8th and 15 in 9th. My own children followed this pattern.

I love these years.

I looked it up and Taylor Swift's family moved to Tennessee when she was 14. She attended Hendersonville HS for 2 years before transferring to a private home schooling academy that could accommodate her tour schedule. She graduated a year early.

It does sound as though Taylor turned 15 during the first part of her freshman year of HS.

You went to private. My kid missed the cut off for kindergarten by weeks and turned 15 shortly after the start of his freshman year. It is pretty typical.

Alright, so I just discovered a song that Taylor Swift wrote back in 2008 called "15". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb-K2tXWK4w In the song, she basically describes the beginning of one's freshman year of high school. Now, the song has lyrics that go "when you're 15", is confusing, because high school freshmen are 14 and 15-year-old are sophomores. Except, I turned 15 the day before I started my freshman year because I was held back a year. Does this mean that Taylor Swift knew me, and that she had me in mind when she was writing the song? I feel kind of frustrated that I didn't discover this song until 10 years after its' release. I don't want to give away any information about myself, but I will say that I was born about 4 years after her and in a different state, and in 2008, I hadn't really done anything that would've alerted anyone out-of-state as to who I was. Another catch is that I'm male, and her song seemed to be intended for females. Still, do you think there's a small chance she knows who I am, and if so, how?
