I think it has to do with receptive language. My child couldn't tell me at that age. Intensive needs to be every day, all day long every hour or even 45 minutes. Have her sit with a book or tablet for 5-10 minutes each time. Its not going to just be a week long thing and she gets it. Like anything with the language, it isn't going to take teaching 2-5 times like another child, it is going to take 100+ times. The speech issues impact everything, especially PT. You need to start now, make it a priority and put her on every hour that you can and at some put just put her in underwear and have the accidents (cover the couch and other furniture).

ABA can be helpful for potty training. Most ABA techs are used to doing potty training using ABA methods. If your child can't "feel" that she needs to go, then you might just want to have her go on a schedule. The ABA tech will start with having her sit on the potty every 15 minutes, then stretch out the time in between sits. There will be big praise and maybe treats when she goes on the potty. You will need to follow the same system at home and school. Eventually, she will come to recognize the feeling of having to go and go herself, or her body will become accustomed to going on a schedule and you may need a potty watch or something similar to cue her to go to the potty every few hours.

We tried it for our kid and not helpful. I think it was all related to the speech. We had to force it put kid on toliet hourly for months.

OK, I have two methods we tried, neither of which worked. Both were tried in my sons Austim/ABA room.

Method 1: Hang out the potty. For an incredibly long time. Make it a super fun place- all of the kids favorite toys, games, screens snacks. And the kiddo sits on the potty- until the void in the potty. Once they void- you make a huge deal of it. Celebrate- go crazy. The put on underoos- and go to the potty every 10-15 minutes afterwards.

Method 2: Put on the underoos- and go the potty every 10 minutes. Until their is a void. Then every 15. Keep the underoos on- just keep going to potty.

Neither worked, but might work for you.

I really do not know how to get her potty trained.

Dd is 4, diagnosed merld, spd and fine motor delay. Has never used potty. Is verbal and should be able to tell that she needs to go. Could aba be helpful for that?
