Correct. Most magnet students who are interested in physics or engineering majors do not take AP physics 1 or 2 tests, but directly take AP Physics C tests (self-study or take AP Phys C courses in junior or senior years).

Magnet physics class in freshmen year covers some Physics 1 and 2 contents. Some students take AP Physics C courses in junior or senior years. Kids who are interested in physics-related major take math physics (2 credits) concurrently with MVA or in senior year. Mine self-studied AP Physics C in junior year (mainly for college application) and took math phys in senior year (for their own interest).

Mostly this is to prep for Physics SAT II and to show enthusiasm for admissions to Mathematical Physics.

Mathematical Physics is pretty selective and double period so you really have to be ready.

Old thread but I'm curious how this is possible to take 9th grade AdvSci and AP Physics 1 and 2 and Mathematics Physics (Double period.)
Even if you allocate 4 course-years, how can you schedule them?
AP Physics 1 sophomore year?
1+2 together junior year?

Wouldn't this be repetitive for Magnet students?
I mean they already take Physics in their first year, right?

I meant AP Physics A/B S/P or AP Physics A/B D/P?

Thanks. When I look at the course bulletin, there is AP Physics A/B S/P and there is AP Physics D/P. Which one do they take?

Do Blair magnet students take AP Physics?
