I want cash if you mean a check, but not actual dollar bills. Amazon/target gift cards are great, too.

I throw many gift cards into a drawer and use them to buy other people presents later on.

I will be the outlier and say I prefer gift cards, to a store that I like. I am more likely to buy an actual gift for myself. With cash, I would just put it in my wallet and spend it on lunch, tips, tax is, etc.

Cash. I've gotten 3 Visa gift cards in my life and they've all stopped working after the first use, before I spent the amount that was supposedly on them. One was for $50 and I used it a Sbux one morning, went back the next, and they said it didn't work. I think they're a scam.

Venmo or PayPal or Ca$h app. Cash if there’s not another choice. Amazon gift card if it has to be the latter.

I know quite a few of my fellow left'y Millennials who won't use Uber, due to their recent scandals. They only use Lyft. Check with your younger relative if they are one of those types.

Another option is to ask your Millennial relative if you can buy them a plane ticket for spring break to a fun destination with their friends. Also, travel booked with your airline miles is also appreciated. It requires some coordination (and delayed gratification), but I guarantee they will NEVER forget the trip or the fact that Aunt Sue bought them the airline ticket.

Our ancestors in the "Old World" would curse us for giving gifts through profit-seeking middle men. The recent immigrants have it right when it comes to weddings, graduations, etc: an envelope stuffed with cash.

OP here. This is what I expected! I'm a pro-cash gen-Xer, and I agree with the practicality of millennials. Some DCUM threads make it sound so terrible and distasteful to give people cash.
