According to state department:
Reconsider travel to Venezuela due to crime, civil unrest, poor health infrastructure, and arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens. Some areas have increased risk.

For context, here is a summary of countries by travel advisory level:

There is something wrong with you, OP.

Good for you OP. Just make sure to patronize local businesses, and I am sure you will be very welcome.

Thanks. Was considering DR or Puerto Rico too. Costa Ricas nice but big $$ for inclusives. Hence, looking for bargains.

I think you need a visa now if you are an American, which wasn’t the case before, but if you live in DC, it should be easy enough through the embassy/consulate. There also may be some currency restrictions, like Cuba, so just make sure to take plenty of cash with you in dollars or euros. You might see if you can add in Angel Falls while you are there. It is spectacular!

Please don’t go there unless you are planning to do charity work. The situation there is abysmal and heartbreaking. Our friends are here as asylum seekers after they were out on a black list.

But maybe there are now vacation deals to be had?

Who's been? Where would you recommend? (Any all-inclusives worth it)?

How was the food / service?

TIA

If this is a joke (and I hope it is), it is not at all funny.

Los Roques National Park is beautiful, and well worth a trip. Much less crowded and commercialised than nearby Aruba. Flights are more limited now that many airlines hve cut or reduced service to Caracas, but you can still get there. Enjoy!

The economy is down? That's not really capturing the utter chaos of the situation. There's nothing that would convince me to go there, and I spent 1991 in the Soviet Union. Venezuela makes the dying days of eastern European communism look like a picnic.

Venezuela is dangerous right now. Go poverty tourism somewhere else. I’m an adventurous traveler but I would go near there.
