Forgot to add. Down is warmer than wool. I wear the wool sweater when it's cold and the down jacket when it's colder. The sweater is 100% merino wool and the down jacket is from Patagonia. If it's extremely cold, I could even wear both layers with a thin shirt underneath.

Layering is key to keeping her warm.

Could you post a link? Not the OP but I’m also looking for new warm coat. Thanks!

I bought the warmest coat I could find at Land's End and was so disappointed when it arrived. The price was great and it was supposed to be down but it was so poorly made. I had to return it.

If anyone does order from them, the coat ran very big. Size down!

I have Raynaud's and really want something like Canada Goose but just not in the budget.

Anything that has the 'warmest' rating at Lands End or LL Bean will be good. I have several of these types. Lands End has 50% off right now and LL Bean has 25% off till 12/11.

Just bought the Rugged Ridge Parka for my daughter today -- they have a 25% off sale today, tomorrow, and Tuesday at LL Bean.

No idea how warm it will be when it is really cold outside, but my daughter likes it. She's 5'4" and less than 100 pounds and she gets cold quickly, plus for a long duration.

LL Bean are great, but I saw a piece by a dog musher in Minnesota that said that Canada Goose is the warmest, but if you can't afford that, you should look at Duluth Trading Co. They said they were close and a fraction of the price.

I have this coat by Kuhl, in a shorter style, but figured your DD would benefit from the parka style. It’s super warm, and the hood can by cinched tightly.

I do have Raynaud's and am very sensitive to the cold and I have a coat by Pyrenex that is so warm I sweat in it if it's above about 20 degrees.

They are at a similar pricepoint to Canada Goose, but I got mine for about $500 on Gilt.

If you do go for the Canada Goose, I would ask your daughter if she wants one. The 20-something women in my NY office were making fun of them last week for being really passe and suburban mom-ish at this point, so I would check before you invest.

I have this Eddie Bauer parka which I find extremely warm. And 50% off today, so it will run less than $200.

I love my Canada Goose jacket because it's warmer than others AND lightweight. For me, it's worth the extra money, but I bought one of the cheaper styles, with no fur.

My young adult daughter has a medical condition that is triggered by the cold (not Raynauds). I'd like to buy her a really warm winter coat or jacket. I could afford Canada Goose, but it seems so expensive that I wonder if the name is adding hundreds of dollars to the cost.

I've looked at LL Bean and it would seem that the Baxter State Parka and the Ultrawarm coat would be candidates.

Would greatly appreciate any recommendations.
