Pay the injection service to come once and watch you. She can give you tips, help you get set up, and is a back up in case you really panic and can’t do it. But it is like a 75 “class” while husband is gone.

Second others saying to ask a friend, learn to do it yourself or change to inserts. Just need practice — I did every injection myself (husband was deployed). There’s a learning curve but it is super short. You can do it! GL with your cycle.

When I did the first few of mine, it helped that my nurse drew circles on my hips to show where the injection goes. It gave me a place to aim without thinking much and made it easier to do it quickly so it didn't really hurt at all.
Since it's oil based, there is a good bit of resistance when you push it in, so it just takes some time. If you use a wider needle (lower gauge is wider) then it goes easier/faster, but also the stab hurts more. I used 20 or 22 mostly, I think. Needle length for these isn't as big of an issue pain-wise.
I feel like it's a good idea to be able to do it yourself just in case you need to. If all goes well, you do them daily for many weeks.

Do you have any mom friends who went through IVF? I bet that they would be willing to help.

Has anyone ever tried to take the injections to a CVS minute clinic? Curious if they would do them.

if its difficult giving it in your butt you can give it in your upper thigh as well. also sitting down on a step/stairs in your home ( if you have any) may give you easier access to your butt for the shot... agree with above post though try and find a nurse neighbor or nursing student to help give you the shot. I was lucky to have an RN next door neighbor who was happy to come over and do mine a few times.

If you are in SGF, you can talk to your nurse. They can recommend a nurse (not SGF nurse) who can come to your house to do the injection.

ask about doing the inserts. i used them for a couple of days when i was out of town. some doctors don't have a preference.
i think $75 is going to be the going rate. agree -- find either a fellow IVF veteran or a nurse neighbor or nursing student?

You might be able to find a friend or fellow IVF veteran who can do it for you for free. But if not, that is likely the going rate. I did mine myself and it was fine.

Hello, We are going through our 4th FET. Unfortunately my hubby out from home for a business trip. I have tried my self to take POI shot but felt kind difficulty while injecting. So looking for home injections. I know about Home Injection plus but they charge 75 bucks per visit, which is too high for us to pay every time. Any suggestion please.
