If it is regular Alg. in middle or high school, the grade is the grade. An A- is 3.67. There is no bump.
If it is Alg Hons (regardless of when you take it), it gets a .5 grade bump. So, if you got an A- for your grade, it would count as (3.67 +.5 = 4.17) for your GPA. They may round it to 4.2.
