I hope DCPS stays open. An unexpected day off at this time of year would be lovely if the schools were still open. I love my kids, but between them and my husband being sick last week I took half the week off to nurse sick kids and now I have it, would love a day where I could just nap and recuperate.


+1. I too hope they stay open, particularly when closing would just add on a day in June.

Which was on a Saturday. Eaton is the closest public school to the Cathedral.

John McCain wasn't president. His funeral was also on a Saturday.

If they expect the public transportation system to be a mess during school commuting times, they may give tardiness leeway, but usually (I know, usually doesn't apply much anymore) things are coordinated enough to minimize disruption of the basic functioning of the city.

No, none are close enough to the procession route, that I know of. I worked on the Hill during Reagan's and got a day off though.

That’s it. I’m not a lazy teacher suggesting they should close or or awful mom trying to kick her kids out of the house in a blizzard ect. Just trying to plan ahead for the activities around the funeral for President Bush.
