I remember once when everyone was going to a frat formal and I wasn't. my mom drove in and we went shopping. It was the best and so sweet of her.
I also had a friend who didn't have the GPA to rush, at a school that was very much majority Greek, and her mom would make arrangements so she could leave town or her mom could come in and take her special places during rush events.
