I would totally take her to a hotel - live it up, have some fun, let her enjoy the luxury of a grand hotel. If the rainfall shower head lives up to everything she thought it would be, install one on her shower.

No, you probably accidentally got a water saving one. If your old shower head had good pressure, just try another shower head.

Teflon tape is typically included in the packaging.
A crescent wrench is good, but a pair of pliers will do. Be sure to wrap a rag around the fitting before you put the wrench on it so that you don't scratch the finish.

They're really cheap to put in yourself.
I have one though and hate it. It's just like a drizzle of water versus a normal shower head. I read that if you really want them to work well you need a special water pump or something like that.

It would be great if you could put one in your house- but the hotel is a beautiful idea. I'm not close with my mom- these threads make we wish that we had the kind of relationship that other people have. No, you're not being "nutty" for making your mom happy.

My DH simply swapped our regular shower head for a Home Depot rain shower head. Ours comes out of the wall not the ceiling. DH is not remotely a plumber and it was a $50 item.

I will NEVER forget the look on my mom's face as she dipped her toes into the ocean, the moment we had to "run away" from an incoming wave that soaked our shoes, or the squeals of delight as my husband pushed her in a beach wheelchair over the dunes and down to the water's edge (she could walk, but wasn't strong enough to go up and down the steep dunes). Those moments of happiness we gave her in her last year of life were the absolute best money I have EVER spent, as well as the best memories that I hold onto now that she is gone.
