How can they expect a 4th grader (just entering 4th grade) type an entire Essay. It will take her a whole hour just to type in the essay. is it possible to take a photo of what one wrote on paper?

My child took the test at the school we were applying to and was allowed to handwrite the essay as a 4th grader applying to 5th. Does one of your schools of choice offer it?

Definitely practice the bubble if you go that route. I got a follow up call from ISEE that I bubbled in my credit card info wrong...

DS is in a private K-8 and is applying out for 7th. He took the ISEE practice test with his tutor company last weekend and apparently he had never taken a test with bubbles before. He actually crossed a few answers out and filled in another bubble!

DH and I were ROTFL as growing up we spent a day before each school standardized test learning how to properly color in bubbles. God forbid you had to erase an answer... you better have a damn excellent eraser.

My DD is at a “big3” here and in in 4th and had doesn’t type much. Not even enough to type an essay for a test. Anything they type theybwork on for many weeks.

I Personally am perfectly happy with the lack of dependence on computers at her school. Let the kids work on their fine motor skills. This is the time. They have the rest of their lives to text and type.

And yes make fun of my bad typing. It’s more that I don’t have on my glasses ?

Think you need to look for a testing site that isn’t online. My daughter took the ISEE and bubbled in answers and hand wrote the essay (different state).

DD also took the ISEE at the Bethesda location. She did have to type it but because she was given scrap paper she was able to outline her essay first and then type it.

Have DC practice typing and outlining an essay. Good luck!!

Have your kids start practicing now. He or she can hunt and peck out an essay. They aren’t very long.

I’m stunned your kid has never typed. My kids started typing in school in 3rd or 4th grade, plus they have had access to computers for longer than that at home.
