Many stores will open in the afternoon or early evening on thanksgiving day. Does your family have thanksgiving plans that would interfere with them arriving to work mid day on thanksgiving?

If she likes babysitting, she should check in with some of the places that run winter break camps. I used to run one years ago and I often hired high schoolers for those two weeks. It pays much better than retail and the hours are teen-friendly. I also used to use some of the same kids in the summer as counselors, so she could also lock up a summer job too.

My dd had a job at Bodyworks and didnt get out until after 11 pm when the store closed at 9 pm. Also the days and hours she was asked to work were horrible for a high school student.

Be careful about knowing the child labor laws - there are laws about how late a child of a certain age can work, how many hours on a school day and how many hours during the school week, in addition to how many hours before being given how long of a break.

Mall and other retail stores. To the PP's the crappy hours are part of what makes these jobs character building. I can always tell someone who never worked a job like this growing up by how they treat salespeople.

Look for places that hire seasonal help - most retail stores. But yes, she will get the crappy hours.

My kids and many of their friends have held holiday mall jobs. We're not immigrants and I have no objection to them working with immigrants and neither do they.

Still at the mall. I've seen stores with signs out for a while. They all tell you to apply online.
