We used Dr. Daisy Pascualvaca in upper Northwest and found her very compassionate and spot on (dyslexia, ADHD, depression). http://www.pascualvaca.com/ (I had thought maybe dysgraphia . . . was more than that).

I know it's a hike from MD, but this is where DS was tested in 2nd grade. We thought the testing and the report were very comprehensive.

Me too. Dx was dyslexia, dysgraphia and the 40 page "dissertation" was very helpful in figuring out how this child learns...and doesn't.

WE were in the same boat. we just couldn't figure out why DD wasn't making progress in reading/writing/math. We finally realized that we needed to have her tested to figure out what's really going on. We just couldn't just go off what we were guessing what was going on or googling this and that. We did pay $$$ for a neuropsych exam rather than a educ psyc exam. Thought we might as well pay for the whole testing picture. It made us realize that our daughter was dyslexic/dysgraphic/dyscalculia. And we realized her school just wasn't meeting her needs so we moved to a more specialized school who CAN meet her needs. We didn't go thru the schools to get the testing done, since we heard mixed reviews about that. It was time for US to pay to get an official diagnosis.

I've been on this site forever and always read the threads about testers. We've done one round of testing which was to get the ADHD dx and get meds. Despite a lot of adaptive skills DS is still making very little academic progress even in an SN private. We need to figure out the exact nature of his reading and math difficulties. Who does the best job figuring out academic skills/problems? Insurance doesn't matter and we are in MD.
