I value commute a lot, so I'd put (1) SWS (2) Maury (3) AppleTree LP (4) Miner. Forget about the rest.

Yes. All DCPS schools with boundaries (so not CHML, SWS, Height, or Excel) give inbounds preference for PK. But only certain schools are early action schools, which guarantee that an inbounds student who lists the school among their PK lottery picks will either get in there or a school they ranked higher.
If commute and continuity are important, I'd go with Maury first. Other rankings depend on whether you'd stay at any of the schools (like SWS) for K and above, or if you'd switch to Maury.

You get to put 12 on your list.
I would put Maury lower than SWS. OP is IB for Maury and if she has a winning draw she can try SWS for the ECE (which is still the best part of their Reggio program) and move to Maury for 1st.
Maury is not early action, so is there still an inbounds preference?

IB is Maury, and ideally I want that because 1) Best for my commute and 2) Good reputation 3) I'd prefer not to switch between PK and K.
Here are the other schools that I might reasonably walk to.
AppleTree Lincoln Park
Peabody
Miner
School Within School Goding
Center City PCS
How would you rank the above? I don't know anything about most of those.
My backup plan is that my kid stays in day care preschool if he does not get in anywhere acceptable to me.
Thanks for any thoughts or info!
