Thank you this is super helpful to know! I didn’t realize there would be such a big difference going from the North side but makes sense. My husband would be driving to tysons and I would probably do metro or bus into downtown DC.
You're welcome. There are a lot of younger families on the North End and they really seem to like it. Lots of walkability. You'll likely need to drive to get to the grocery store but there are plenty of options from Harris Teeter to Giant to Trader Joe's.

We are looking to move early January. Would like to rent for a few years to finish saving a down payment for a SFH.

I’d look at Falls Church, too. Fwiw, I live in north Old Town and wouldn’t want to commute to Tysons every day.

What is your timeline? My neighbor is renting his 3-bedroom TH near Courthouse. Little yard, walk to metro.
That said, everyone moves out of TH by mid-elementary school so communities do not foster for families.

If this is your goal you look at places with good schools where you will eventually settle and buy or at least have kids start school.
Westover is a good recommendation. Lyon Park too. Maybe maywood or cherrydale but budget might be tough.

Look in the Westover area of Arlington. McLean isn’t really walkable.
