We did it prior to doing the fragmentation test (early in our journey, so didn't know as much and doc recommended trying and of course, we wanted to try whatever might work). DH had poor everything, except, as it turned out, fragmentation. The TESE didn't help at all and we were later successful on a cycle without using the frozen sample from it. I'd recommend doing the test first. There are several tests, so take a look at which one makes most sense. My DH elected to go to Cornell for treatment. He did the test there and they put him on meds and he took Proxeed, too.

Do the DNA fragmentation test first. If it comes back high, try a high antioxidant diet and see if that helps. If not, a TESE is something to consider.
My husband did a TESE for other reasons (azoo due to testicular failure). Recovery was tough and he's had long term consequences from the TESE. It would not be my first choice approach.

The doctor thinks my husband has DNA fragmentation. Would Tese be helpful. Can anyone give any insight if it worked for them. He didn’t suggest doing a DNA fragmentation test.
