My kids use the Brio set I had when I was a kid, so there is longevity there!

Some of the tracks don’t have tracks on both sides. I know Brio does.

We have the Brio starter set for our 2 year old. She enjoys it. If she gets more into it, we'll get some of the add-ons, but it seems to work for now.

The tracks all connect and the trains all work together. Brio are the nicest of the four.

It's all the same, so I don't think it matter too much. I believe that all thomas, ikea, brio tracks will connect with each other, but Brio trains are somewhat smaller. That means certain brio accessories will not work with Thomas trains, but it's really just certain tunnels where Thomas trains get stuck.

Ikea sucks, as does Chuggington. If your kids don't care, get Brio. Thomas quality has gone downhill, but it will work with brio if you want to add some Thomas pieces.
