LOL Northwest... definitely check out QO or Wootton if you can afford to. Wootton is considered the best school in the state and always has the best test scores.

I would highly recommend that you choose Clarksburg over Northwest. People regard it negatively because it is so diverse, but at Clarksburg it is such a good thing. The environment is so positive and the environment is so well-rounded, and I've heard the principal is amazing. I'd definitely be happy with sending my kids there. There are also tons of kids in that area! I saw something saying the generation currently in elementary school is 3,000 kids over capacity of the high school... crazy! People must love it there. Also, if you haven't heard yet there was a robbery in the Northwest High parking lot by students towards other students after school in the evening. Just seems scary/a little too rough for me! But, I would say that the Northwest area has much better access to amenities. They are within 10 minutes of Kentlands(whole foods!), and then not too far from the whole Shady grove area and Crown/Washingtonian Center. Clarksburg is much further from those shopping areas but closer to outlets and milestone, and primarily surrounded by residential areas for miles. That definitely should come into play when the schools are similar. Great area though.

I would seriously look at the traffic patterns from each neighborhood to wherever you need to commute to. Rush hour traffic upcounty is horrible if you need to use 270. And it's a whole heck of a lot easier if you can travel around on one side of 270 or the other, and not cross from east to west or vice versa.

If I lived closer I’d work in a clarksburg school versus a bethesda school. The staff out there seems closer and happier. Maybe it’s just owusu’s great leadership.

The Clarksburg HS principal is terrific. At the middle school where he was the previous pricipal, he would visit students and their families at their homes. That's how engaged he is. Also note that a section of Clarksburg Village goes to Damascus HS. Not sure if that matters to you, OP.

Love Clarksburg Village! But be aware that right now some parts of the neighborhood are zoned for Damascus HS. Boundaries may change with the Seneca Valley expansion, but I'm not sure if the parts of the neighborhood zoned for Damascus will be affected or not.

Clarksburg is a much better investment and so much nicer. Northwest High is just as good but surrounding area is not that nice.

We chose Clarksburg but moved to the Cabin Branch area. Love it here. Lots of families with kids and the area will eventually have more retail and restaurants.

Both schools will be largely effected by the SVHS renovation, so the school demographics will change entirely within the next 10 years. Go Clarksburg because nicer neighborhoods and closer to Milestone shopping area, 270, and the outlets. The area is growing and only getting better.

Looking to buy long-term in one of these two clusters. The neighborhoods we are looking at are Woodcliffe and Clarksburg village, and both are very similar and the houses are almost the same too but the ones in Clarksburg are a little nicer since they are newer. Which schools(k-12) are 'better' or 'worse'? I know they both are mostly asian thru high school and have similar demographics and FARMs. Which would you choose given what you know about them? Thank you!!
