If you're still getting normal blasts, it might be worth it. It also shouldn't take 6 months.

If you want to do DE, setting it up will take a little time, so you could do a last round while you get DE set up. I did that. I moved to DE when I turned 43 - I was producing lots of eggs, but not good quality, and even though I could find some encouragement in how things were going and my #s, I found thinking about the likelihood that it was really time wasted a motivator to move on. Being able to jump right to DE after my last cycle, without having to do the administrative part, was nice.

Why 6 months wait? Go talk to Dominion Fertility with Natural Cycle IVF, it starts with your next cycle, egg retrieval and implantation within 1 week. Only shot is hcg trigger.

The success rate is low because obviously the egg quality is an issue. But if time is your concern and if you don't want frozen embryo, you can do NCIVF every menstrual cycle because there is no ovarian stimulation drug.

DF doctor told us that as long as you ovulate, they can try to IVF that one egg every cycle. Fresh embryo implant.

At that age, I'd also recommend going straight to donor eggs. I was shocked at the drop-off in quality between 42 and 43, at least in my own case. At 42 I got 2 PGS normals (out of 12 fertilized eggs, 5 of which made it to blast). I then did four more retrievals between 43 and 44 and although I still got plenty of eggs and several of them made it blast, none of them were normal. It was such a waste of money, and the reality is that this is the most likely result as we get older. And in some ways the worst of it was how we felt our lives were on hold during that period, ugh. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

i would not try with your own eggs again. you're just throwing money away at this point. Sorry to be blunt, just speaking from experience.

NP. I’m doing DE with shady grove. It seems overwhelming but it’s not really that complicated. Using the frozen donor eggs thru donor egg bank USA

Do you consider growing embryos to blastocysts and doing PGT?

+1. I was you, but a couple years older. Did 4 rounds and spent a ton of money. Good retrievals but just couldn’t get the PGS normals. Struggled with whether to do DE then finally did it. Now have my DD and just wish I’d moved on sooner. When I was considering DE I followed some infertility forums and pretty much every woman who’d done DE said the same thing.

Where did you do DE cycles? It seems so overwhelming.

OP here. Honestly, we are mostly concerned with time. We have the resources to try again, but between the harvest and the FET, it’ll be about 6 months before we take a pregnancy test, and I’ll be 43 and my partner will be 46. I just don’t know when we should just stop. Our cutoff had been the last round, but now we are reconsidering. Our doc says that we are not crazy to keep trying since my AMH isn’t too bad. What’s your cut off in terms of age? Or what would be your cut off in terms of AMH?

I’m at the same crossroads. It’s a terribly difficult decision. If I can get insurance coverage I am going to try again with my own eggs. Otherwise it will be donor or stopping. I’m not sure I can afford donor eggs.

If money is no object, and you will still be able to do donor egg or adopt, then sure. But if not, this would be a good time to move on to other options.

I'm 42.5.

AMH 3.04.
FHS 7.0.

I had one successful IVF pregnancy 3 years ago.

Last egg harvest yielded 15 eggs, but only 2 fertilized and were frozen at day 3. FET didn't work.

So now I'm figuring out whether to keep trying. My AMH isn't bad, I guess. But 4 egg harvests has only yielded 2 PGS normal blasts plus a bunch that didn't make it to PGS testing, so unclear whether they were normal.

Thoughts?
