Just a question, and I am a woman, why isn’t a DH allowed to express pain or discomfort? It doesn’t have to be a contest. He didn’t make it a contest; he never said he felt worse or even that he wanted any sympathy. It was an honest question about a phenomenon and everyone gets on the defensive about how we as women have everything so much worse. Just stop and be a decent human and answer the question; or don’t and move along.

If you think about, when women hang around each other they tend to get their periods around the same time. I seem to recall reading that sleeping in the same bed with your husband/male SO tends to make a woman's menstrual cycle more regular. A man who sleeps in the same bed with his wife/female SO has more testosterone.

So if your wife's cycles are changing I don't think it's that far fetched that it could impact your male bodily chemistry.

This makes a lot of sense and totally applies to us - thanks!

WAIT. I still want to know ... did you get fat? Did you have labor pains? Did you expel a 10 pound baby from your genitals? What?

Yes, yes, and yes. You had your fun now move on.

How do you know your wife is menopausing?

If your wife is menopausal, you’re getting older too. Don’t assume it’s like when she was pregnant. Get yourself checked out.

Don’t worry about all the negative nellies here either. They’d rather deny science and psychology to get a dig in at a man for not being perfect. As long as you’re not trying to make everything about you, you’re not doing anything wrong. And menopause is ongoing, lasting years. You’re allowed to have medical symptoms during your wife’s menopause.

Make sure there is no underlying medical condition - like sinuses or vision - and then grow the hell up. When someone is going through actual physical problems the last thing they want to deal with is a drama queen with “sympathy pains”.

Same thing happened to my DH. Are you having problems with your vision? Get an MRI; it could be pressure on your brain.

Stop being so high maintenance OP.
Do you want your DW to have a heart attack when you do?? Who will care for the dog? Wait until it’s your turn.

So what did you experience during your wife's pregnancy/labor?

This is kind of the epitome of when the wife is sick, the husband must be sicker so as to get out of covering for her.

Anyone else experience or hear of anything like this?

I also had Couvade syndrome when she was pregnant with each of our 4 kids, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
