Me- pregnant right away at 32, then nothing when I started trying again at 34. I had two early miscarriages over the course of 18 months. Saw fertility specialist, eventually did get pregnant with fertility help when I was 37. But without fertility treatments it would never have happened. I guess my body was just done prematurely, it sucked, but I am happy we finally got a second even if our kids are way further apart in age than we'd hoped.

My MIL. She got pregnant right away at 19 as a newlywed but her second and third children were born 11 and 13 years later.

Me. Got pregnant with my DD after skipping birth control just one time. When DD was 3 started trying for #2. I was 35. I’m now 40, have had uterine surgery and three rounds of IVF and still no second baby. I’m now contemplating donor eggs but my doctor says the odds are pretty low even with a donor and I’m just so scared of bankrupting ourselves and maybe still not having a second.

My DD is different. She asks me for a sibling all the time. Asks me when and why not now. It’s heartbreaking.

Same here. Started trying again when LO was 1 year old. I conceived, but miscarried three times within a year. I'm doing IVF right now with Abbasi.

Sorry to hear it OP. I had a similar experience. Easy first (accident) and nothing for second. Nothing worked, so we did DE. You figure there has to be a last time at some point, otherwise there would be tons of non-IVF babies born to people in their mid-40s and the odds for IVF at 41-42 would be far more that 20%. It just sucks when it's earlier than you want it to be.

I got pregnant the first month off birth control with DD1, then conceived my 2nd ON bc when DD was 2 months old. Fertile myrtle? Then nothing, for five years. At first I was on the pill and then had an IUD, but haven't for over 4 years now, and nada.

OP here. Thanks, I guess I'm not sure if I'm on a secondary infertility journey still or not. I'm done with infertility treatments including DE. The RE thinks I have implantation issues and I'm not willing to go down that route with immune treatments. Also not keen on the idea of DE in general. We looked into adoption and did extensive research but not sure it's the right step for us. My son is now 5 and he seems so content being an only child. But at the same time I don't feel our family is complete at all, but I'm emotionally done with infertility treatments. We've been trying on our own now for literally 55 cycles with no luck after getting pregnant on the first try. Doesn't make any sense to me which is what makes all this so difficult.

I have been struggling with secondary infertility. Pregnant right away with #1 at age 34 (like immediately) and had a wonderful and easy pregnancy.

Started TTC #2 when #1 turned 10 months. It's now been 5 years of TTC and I have not gotten a single positive pregnancy test. I am so sad and depressed about this and don't know anyone else in my situation. When I tell people, they are always super confused, like how could you get pregnant so easily once and then never again? And I answer, I have no idea. We did 3 IUIs with Gonal-F when I was 36-37, all BFNs. I had a surgery at 37 to remove uterine polyps and look at my uterine lining. GYN said I should be good to go after the surgery. Then did 2 IVFs when I was 38-40. I had 8 eggs retrieved each time and Transfer on Day 3 but BFN. My RE gave me a low chance of success with IVF when I started at 38. At 39 I went to Dr. Abassi and had testing done showing "immune issues" with high NK cells but she did not feel that immune issues were my problem.

I am not willing to put myself through any more infertility treatments or immune treatments and just feel sad and defeated. I am now almost 42 and having a hard time accepting having an only.
