I meet up with an old friend every few months and hand her a few bags of great hand-me-down clothes for her child. When we meet up, she buys me lunch. And I see pictures of her kid in our old clothes. That's all the thanks I need!

Just say thank you and move on. I'm just trying to get things out of my house we won't use anymore. I don't want a gift for that - then I have to figure out where to put it.

No monetary gifts.
I love seeing the kids wearing the clothes. Nostalgia or something. So if you don't see them much in person, a text with a picture and how much your kid likes it is great.
If they wanted money they would sell. I think it's ok to offer $$ at first. Also my moms that we give clothes to (my kids usually pick) have always said if I ever decide to sell instead please let them know, they would be happy to pay.
But heartfelt thank yous are enough.

I have a friend who regularly gives me big trash bags full of clothes. From time to time I give her a $50 gift card to the store she shops at most. It’s not payment, just a token of gratitude!

My friend gave me a ton of high quality baby clothing for my baby when he was born. Her kid was in the 99th percentile for weight and height when born and just got even bigger as he grew so he skipped over some sizes completely.
I wrote a thank you note and since her son was teething and eating solids, I got him some fun teethers and bibs as a token gift.

This is such a nice idea, the photo I mean. But the handwritten thank you is definitely enough and appreciated. I gave away a lot of nice clothes to a friend of a friend and got a wonderful handwritten thank you note.
