+1 on morphine in the hospital. I'm glad it's there when I need it, but there's no way I'd administer my own dose. I gave morphine drops to my Dad when he was on his deathbed. Glad he got it go out without pain.

Morphine is not a recreational drug for a reason. Generally, it does not make people who are NOT in pain feel better--if anything it makes an otherwise healthy, pain free person feel really awful and nauseous.

I think the most dangerous part of this plan by FAR is how are you going to obtain it? On the street? If that's the case, you have no clue what you're getting and you can bet it's not pure morphine or even close to it. Are you going to get leftover pills from a friend? They won't be morphine, they'll be morphine derivatives, but close enough for what you're getting at. This is by far safer, but then it necessitates the embarrassing question to your friend of "can I have a few of your oxys?"

Terrible idea unless you are in a hospital setting. I had morphine for the first time after surgery when I was in high school. I remember thinking to myself that I can NEVER do heroin or I would be an instant addict. It's amazing.

Then I slept pretty much all day and couldn't even focus on what the doctor was telling me. So- yeah, don't recommend for recreational use unless you'd like your pain to go away in which case it works fantastic

When I was given morphine, I felt warm and peacefully euphoric.

There are so many better drugs out there for recreational use.

I had it while hospitalized. It was definitely pleasant. The way I describe it was that I still felt my pain, but I did not care about it anymore at all. And usually I zonked out pretty quick after getting it. I never felt the need to have it again once I left the hospital.

You didn't vomit??? I wish I reacted like you. At least the nausea makes using it recreationally a turn off...

If I was in severe pain, and not getting relief from other options, I would absolutely try morphine.

But recreationally? Who does that?

Opioids aren’t great as recreational drugs. The only place I’ve had morphine was in post-op recovery. It has a lot of side effects. I would consider recreationally using whatever they gave me to relax right before surgery.

My wife had some, for surgery. Opioids do a number on your digestive system. FYI. She came out of the experience wondering why anyone who had a choice would do this.

If I was going to experiment with a drug, it wouldn't be morphine. I also doubt using morphine once is going to open any bad doors. I've had to use Percocet on and off over the past year and I have zero desire to use it recreationally or try anything harder

DH and I are having a discussion, and the issue is whether either of us would as a one-time thing take a small dose of morphine. Neither of us has done any drugs other than try marijuana.
