I haven't seen this specifically, but I do know DA teams can enroll in tournaments as long as it doesn't violate the DA rules of no more than 1 game a day and no more than 2 days in a row. Or so I had been told. But this tournament doesn't seem to follow the rules.

DA clubs can apply for a waiver from the DA. The age groups represented are U13 and U14. Standings are not kept for either age group so it likely is not a big deal with the DA.

Never heard of it, and my son's DA team doesn't do anything of the sort. The whole point isn't some arbitrary rule. The whole point is to prevent injuries by not playing more than the above stated games.

You likely never heard of it because the boys side has had ten years to establish themselves. There are only two pilot groups for U13 so there is no real official age group and no out of division competition for the U13’s. There are no U13 DA events so a traditional tournament is the only real way to go.

The U14’s only have two later showcases in comparison to the U15’s so one tourney to make it 3 on the year is not exactly piling on the games.

My kid did one last year with his DA team. Here's how it works. The tournament had to create a special bracket confirming to DA rules. They played 2 mini games one day and a full length game the next, just like at the DA showcases. No standings, and scores were not posted. So the non-DA teams had to forgo playing for a "championship" in order to be in the actual top bracket of the tournament.
