Unless the truck is very old, there is a seat belt for every seat. Two or three depending on the truck.

My friend's husband enjoys landscaping their yard. He wants to be able to go to the store and get what he needs when he wants it, so delivery is out the window. They used to have an SUV with a trailer, but it broke. When it was time to get a new car, he opted for pick up. It has two rows to it.

Maybe they like to hunt and a truck can get into remote areas better. Or they camp and tow a trailer. They want a flat bed to haul whatever?

We have DHs from his days as a field superindent. When it was time to get a new vehicle, I refused to trade it in. It was paid off and we wouldn’t get much for it.
I’m about to get in it now and run to HD. We need mulch. Mulch in the back of the pickup doesn’t make the interior of the car smell

The men I have known who have pickup trucks in or near a large city either have hobbies that require a lot of hauling (dirt bikes for instance) or come from a more rural area where they developed an appreciation for them, even if they can’t fully justify having one now.
My in-laws live in an area where every family has a pickup truck (many have multiples) for farm use. It’s the default family vehicle in many places, and a part of the culture that is probably hard to shake even if they move away.

All the ones I know in our neighborhood have 2 rows can fit 6 people buckled and they carry sports gear in the back.
It's cooler than a minivan I guess.

3 men I know have traded in there minivans or suvs for big pickup trucks. They live in the suburbs and not rural or farming areas and don`t haul lots of stuff around on the weekends. So what is the appeal of a pickup truck? And (a bit unrelated) how many people can fit in the front seat? My son rode in one (a teachers) and he did not have a seat belt. He was in the middle front position. I was shocked and will be complaining to the school.
