That's ridiculous. The WaPo editorial board is solidly liberal, and only relative to Takoma Park or Berkeley could they be considered even remotely conservative. They simply have expressed concern for candidates that occupy the far left.

Floreen voter who supported Frick in the primary. Blair had no real experience.

I think Marc Elrich is a mansplaining jerk without a complete vision for how to govern the county or help it grow.

I cannot remember the last non-democrat I voted for in 30 years of voting and I'm voting for Floreen.

There is huge frustration in up county with Silver Spring always taking the lion share of everything. There are poor areas in up county that need attention too. The MC and UMC see everything diverted down county and the last thing they want to do is to vote for another SS county council. The west is tired of paying for all of it.

So yes I would expect there to be lots of Elrich signs in Silver Spring which is exactly why he is so hated in the rest of the county. I think Floreen is going to end up winning which will shock the folks in Silver Spring.

Very true, but I don’t know how Floreen would help poor people. She is also downcounty and tends to cater to wealthy business interests.

There is far more to county government than development. Floreen and Elrich are pretty much the same for most of it.

The only thing worse than Elrich are Elrich supporters on Twitter.

Elrich is for people who actually live here whereas Flooreen is all about sweet deals for developer cronies.

If you are a single-issue environment voter, then yes, vote for Elrich.

The thing is, though, most people don't think that the Montgomery County Executive can save the world from climate change, so they vote for what's best for taxes and job growth. Which is what the County Executive CAN affect.

I may vote for him though because he's against Beltway widening. I think the toll lanes on 495 will be an undesired ineffective mess. I don't like any of our choices but at least he's decent on transportation. Business growth won't solve anything if everyone spends all their time sitting in traffic.

Elrich is every bit as polarizing as your "orange madman".

I went to a forum recently and I didn’t hear anything unreasonable. In an election where there is so much more to worry about with the orange madman in the White House, I don’t understand why there is so much outrage (on here, and in the Washington Post) about a local elected official. From what I’ve heard him say and responses in interviews, there’s nothing Elrich has said that makes me think he’s out to destroy the economy. Am I missing something?
I’m a single-issue environmental policy voter, so I’m inclined to vote for him.

If there’s something I’m missing, convince me otherwise. There has to be a reason why a particular Maryland Democrat is considered a bogeyman.

Also, I try not to be so partisan, I’d vote for a Republican OR a Democrat, whoever is best on environmental issues. It just happens to be usually the latter.
